[Recording available] Lipidomics study reveals promising biomarkers for breast cancer subtypes

Date:
Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Time: 15.00-16.00 (CET)

Guest Speakers: Dr Finnur Freyr Eiríksson*, ArcticMass Ltd. Reykjavík, Iceland and Prof Margrét Thorsteinsdóttir**, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Iceland

Sartorius Stedim Data Analytics (SSDA) invites to a Guest webinar on the use of MVDA in Lipidomics

Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst women worldwide and a leading cause of cancer related deaths among females. Survival rate of BC is highly dependent on early diagnosis. Therefore, better diagnostic tools for early detection of BC is needed to improve the survival rate. The aim of this study was to investigate the lipidome of six breast cancer cell lines utilizing a UPLC-QTOF-MS platform.

Attend this webinar and learn how PLS and OPLS-DA analyses revealed lipid biomarkers for specific BC subtypes, which may serve as biomarkers in the early diagnoses of cancer and give the opportunity of subtype specific treatment.

*) Dr Finnur Freyr Eiríksson is the General Manager of ArcticMass Ltd. Reykjavík, Iceland. He has many years of experience in lipidomics, during his Ph. D studies, studying the lipid metabolism in cancer cell lines utilizing mass spectrometry together with multivariate data analysis.

**) Dr. Margrét Thorsteinsdóttir is a professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Iceland and she is the R&D Director of ArcticMass Ltd, Reykjavik, Iceland. She has extensive experience in development of analytical methods for metabolite profiling and quantification of biomarkers in various biofluids utilizing chemometrics.
